CASE STUDY #1
A minor label was having difficulty getting the right sound for the vocals for an indie band they had just signed. MRC supplied Neumann and AKG microphones at no charge. With vocals still not hitting the mark, sessions were transferred to MRC’s studio and all vocal tracks were re-recorded.
CASE STUDY #2
A professional ensemble engaged a famous London studio to transcribe an old recording into high-resolution digital files. Attempts to produce a decent-sounding CD were met with repeated failure. MRC discovered digital garbage in the signal, along with spurious other noise. The files were re-processed, with a CD-R premaster offered as a bonus.
CASE STUDY #3
A recording musician with a home studio approached MRC with several songs that had been tracked and mixed. These sounded good but not great. MRC re-tracked certain vocal and guitar lines, cleaned and processed drum takes, and offered a free re-mix of a key song. MRC is now their first choice for tracking and mixing of key material.
CASE STUDY #4
A renowned instrumentalist had spent a substantial amount of money on a location recording by a 'name' engineer for a large recording concern. The masters were disappointing to the point of being "fit only for the bin" - to quote one industry icon. MRC stepped-in and spent 40hrs working on specialised DSP to rescue the recordings.
CASE STUDY #5
A back-line guitarist known to the Glastonbury stage came to MRC with a dilemma – a major act had asked for a quality demo of some of his material but he had virtually no spare cash. MRC produced a 3 track EP, throwing in use of a session musician for just £50.
CASE STUDY #6
A student singer came to realise the deadline for entries for an international academy was just over a week away. MRC booked a venue, found a top-grade pianist, engineered a recording, produced a promotional CD and secured 48hr courier to the USA in time for the deadline.
CASE STUDY #7
Early one morning MRC received a phone call from a stressed father whose son's music GCSE submission had been poorly hacked together at the last minute by the school. Within 3hrs they were walking out with a quality composition arranged using world-class Steinway and VSL string samples.
