If you aim to sell your music - digitally or otherwise - your tracks need to stand-up against those from the biggest and best labels. In today's competitive markets poor sound can bury you online overnight.
Mastering isn't mixing. Whilst a good mix engineer will keep mastering in mind during the mix process, mastering always comes as the definitive and final step in the chain of audio production. It is said that mastering is both an art and a science - mastering isn’t just about maximising sound levels, cleaning-up excessive LF and adding a bit of 'top-end'. Good quality masters rarely come from tweaking a few parameters in popular sequencing and CD burning packages. We know because we've heard the results for ourselves.
MRC is by no means a specialist mastering studio but we certainly have to guarantee the quality of our own commercially-bound products. We have thus collected a range of tools and techniques that can be used to generate excellent results for all our clients. For critical mastering work we use nearfield, midfield and farfield monitoring in an acoustically-treated space with design guided by RTA. Our midfield monitors of choice are the superlative PMC LB1s with Bryston Powerpacs; B&W CDM1s are our favoured nearfield solution. We are currently auditioning B&W's range of outstanding products for farfield main monitoring applications.
Rarely have we heard good quality masters produced by artiste's themselves, and on occasion we've even had to re-master materials produced by commercial studios. If you think your tracks might need an extra edge over the competition, then our mastering service at just £12/hr might be your next best investment.
